ANJA ROHWER

Originally trained as a graphic designer, Anja Rohwer stepped into humanitarian work after the passing of her mother in 2009. Determined to continue her mother's legacy, she founded a community initiative in the DRC informal settlement of Swakopmund, supporting vulnerable children and families.

Moved by the stark inequality in the area, where thousands live in extreme poverty and unemployment remains high, Anja established a soup kitchen as the project's first outreach activity. What began as a small wooden shelter has grown into a thriving community project. Today, it includes a kindergarten, soup kitchen, women's empowerment programmes, and many other initiatives that provide education, nutrition, support, and opportunities for the wider community. The project continues to bring hope, care, and positive change to hundreds of children and families each year.

“Many people doing many small things in many small places can change the face of the world.”

This was the motto of Jutta Rohwer, a belief that her daughter and granddaughter continue to carry forward today. “Three women – one heart for charity” is a fitting description of the Rohwer family’s dedication to serving their community.

Menzona contributes her passion for marketing and communication to the projects. Through modern technology, social media, and outreach initiatives, she helps raise awareness, strengthen community engagement, and promote the work and impact of the various programmes.

EDITH DÖBBERT

Edith Döbbert became involved with the projects through Jutta Rohwer in 2002. Since then, she has played an important role in raising awareness and support for the Katutura Project and the DRC Women’s Community Project among network of friends, family, and supporters in Germany.

Following Jutta Rohwer’s passing, Edith became the main contact person in Germany for funding enquiries related to the projects. Today, she serves as a vital link between Namibia and Germany, helping to maintain strong relationships with our donors and supporters while facilitating ongoing fundraising and support for the communities we serve.
